YWCA South Hampton Roads is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. That means all people from all places. World Refugee Day works to raise awareness for the experiences of refugees world-wide. According to the World Economic Forum it is estimated that one in every 113 people on the planet is now a refugee.
When we celebrate World Refugee Day, we are celebrating the power of inclusion. It is inclusion that makes us stronger, helps us fight against injustice, and show the world what equality means. Together we can affect change in our communities and our world. Our mission extends to protect the rights of all people because the future deserves all of us.
