COVID-19 Vaccinations 

Vaccination of our team members is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19 and the return to regular, in-person experiences. Effective immediately all team members will be required to get vaccinated and must provide proof of their vaccination by September 10, 2021. All team members unable to provide proof of vaccination will be subject to mandatory COVID-19 testing each week, at their own expense and time, beginning September 13, 2021. In addition, all team members will be required to continue following masking requirements and must cover their mouth and nose with a mask in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention while indoors.

Why is the YWCA South Hampton Roads (SHR) requiring me to show proof of vaccination? 

Showing our commitment to the safety of our team and clients is the surest and safest way to move our agency fully into the future. Knowing the number of team members who have received vaccinations informs decision-making. We have learned that pandemics require agile, data-driven responses to changing circumstances. 

Will my vaccine information be protected? 

Yes, the proof of vaccination information you provide, including images of your vaccination card, will be secure and maintained in accordance with all applicable laws and public health regulations and shared on a need-to-know basis. 

What if I can’t find my vaccination card? 

Contact the location where you received your vaccine, ask if they have a record, and can give you a copy. If they cannot provide a copy, you can contact the Virginia Department of Health to obtain a copy of your vaccination record. 

Where can I get a vaccination? 

You can search vaccines.gov, text your ZIP code to 438829, or call 1-800-232-0233 to find locations near you in the U.S. 

How do I update my vaccination status? 

Once you become vaccinated, you can contact Human Resources by email at HR@ywca-shr.org. 

How do I request an exemption? 

Team members can request a medical or religious exemption by contacting Human Resources at HR@ywca-shr.org.  All team members that receive an exemption will still be required to complete weekly COVID-19 testing at their own expense. 

Will interns and volunteers be required to get vaccinated? 

Yes, anyone entering a YWCA SHR facility or representing YWCA SHR  at off-site locations must follow the same guidelines as YWCA SHR team members.
