In Gratitude to Our Strategic Partners, Sponsors, Adopt-a-Room & In-Kind Donors:
Because of your philanthropic support, the YWCA South Hampton Roads moved residents into our new emergency shelter in May 2020. This new facility increases our shelter footprint from 5,300 square feet to nearly 10,000 square feet – doubling the number of clients we are able to serve under one roof. Most significantly, this expansion allows shelter staff to have offices in the same building as residents, providing increased access to trauma-informed support services.
In 2018 the YWCA South Hampton Roads received the Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award. This transformational grant allowed us to purchase our new emergency shelter – a need that had been on the horizon for more than a decade. As the only domestic violence shelter in the City of Norfolk, the opening of our new emergency shelter ensures that we can continue to provide comprehensive support services to those who are most vulnerable in our community.
On behalf of the 11,300 clients we serve annually, thank you for your investment our mission.
